7-segment display

The seven-segment display is not just limited to numbers. While primarily used to display the digits 0 through 9, the design allows for a variety of characters and shapes, revealing a surprising range of possibilities beyond the standard numerical set. In this project, we sought to explore not just the 10 digits traditionally presented, but all the potential combinations and characters that can be generated using this minimal structure.

My fascination with this form dates back to when I first saw it in action-in the opening scene of a classic James Bond film, where a digital watch displays the time in bold, segmented numerals. From that moment, I was captivated by the simplicity and elegance of the seven-segment design. Today, the same form continues to hold my attention, as it quietly powers the digital clocks, calculators, and devices we rely on daily.
