Walking 1000 miles to go
2022 marked a significant year of change and growth for me. Inspired by my sister and fueled by the desire to cultivate a daily habit, I set out to walk 1,000 miles over the course of the year. It was more than just a fitness challenge—it became a lesson in discipline, commitment, and finding joy in small, daily steps.

The idea for this project came from a conversation with my sister, Gemma. She had previously walked the length of the Thames and proposed the challenge of walking 1,000 miles in a year. It seemed daunting but exciting—so I initially thought I’d run the distance. After picking up a few injuries early on, I shifted to walking instead.

Walking the same routes can become monotonous, which was one of the biggest challenges I faced. To keep things interesting, I began exploring new areas of the city. I’d alternate walking north, south, east, and west, finding new places and hidden corners of my city.
