Finding a budget airline to fly directly to Estonia just isnt an option today (2016), so I had to get creative. Rather than shelling out for a pricey direct flight with a national carrier, I decided to embrace the adventure of a stopover. My plan? Fly to Finland on a Friday night, then catch the morning ferry across the Gulf of Finland to Tallinn, Estonia.
This approach not only saved me money but also added an unexpected layer of excitement to the trip. Landing in Helsinki, I got to experience a bit of Finland before hopping on the ferry-a scenic journey in itself. Plus Previous trips to finland have always given more than they have taken. then there was the crisp morning air, the sight of the sun rising over the Baltic Sea, and the anticipation of arriving in Tallinn made the journey feel like a true adventure rather than just a transit.
Traveling this way isn’t just about saving a few pounds; it’s about embracing the flexibility that comes with a budget. Sometimes, the most memorable travel experiences aren’t about getting from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Instead, they’re about the unexpected detours, the extra stops, and the little moments you collect along the way. that IVE COLLECTED ON THE WAY!
So, if you find yourself facing a similar situation-whether due to a lack of direct flights or just a tight budget-don’t shy away from a stopover or a non-linear travel route. It really is an opportunity to see more of the world, make the journey part of the adventure, and maybe even discover a new favourite spot along the way while meeting new people.
From my experience from travelling to over 120 countries, Traveling on a budget doesn’t mean compromising on experiences; it means being open to the unexpected and making the most of every leg of your journey. So, next time, consider the scenic route-you might be surprised by where it takes you. Plus you never know a local Finn might buy you a beer! 😉
