Overlapping Realities: Letters and Moments in One Place

In an earlier project, we explored the deconstruction and reconstruction of the Latin alphabet. By layering the letters from A to Z on top of one another, we created a visual representation of seeing everything at once-not as a scientific exploration, but as an artistic reflection on how complex and intertwined familiar symbols can become when they are viewed collectively.

We extended this concept into our current work, where instead of focusing on letters, we turned our attention to images-specifically the curated, idealised photographs we present on social media. Much like layering the alphabet, we began to layer fragments of a day’s worth of digital images. The intent was to represent how we experience life as a series of moments, yet what we choose to share is often carefully selected, edited, and curated.

By breaking down the images of our day and layering their fragments, we invite the viewer to question how we record and present our lives. This visual overlap reflects the complexity of memory and reality, where the “perfect” images we project online coexist with the unfiltered moments we live through but seldom share. In this work, the idea is to see the entire day-or entire reality-at once, layered and overlapping, just as we did with the alphabet in our earlier exploration.
