Good and bad news, folks. The bad news: my holiday is officially over. I’ve reached my final destination for this leg of the journey-the beginning of what I’m calling Project Africa. Here, at the southern tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas, where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic, the next landmass to the south is Antarctica. While I’m literally standing at the end of the world, I’m deeply aware that within my soul, I’m embarking on a journey that will mark a significant transition in my life.

The good news? The adventure is just beginning. As I stand here at the southernmost point of the continent, with the vast expanse of two oceans on either side, I’m about to embark on the next chapter of my journey. I’m setting off on an epic overland trip from this southern tip to, hopefully, the northern reaches of Egypt-a journey that will span many months, traversing the diverse landscapes, cultures, and places that make up the continent of Africa.

This undertaking is both thrilling and utterly daunting. I’ve left behind my job, family, and friends to pursue this solo adventure. While many have traveled this route before, it feels entirely unfamiliar and unknown to me. There’s excitement, but also a sense of trepidation. The path ahead isn’t fully visible-just the next few steps before I face the next challenge or set of uncertainties.

So, as I prepare to journey across Africa and ultimately back to London, my heart is full of hope and apprehension. Here’s to hoping the journey will be as transformative and rewarding as it promises to be. Stay tuned for the adventures that lie ahead!
P.S. I got picked up by The Sunday Times-have a read!
