Exploring Abstraction: From Numbers to Identity

Cells is the latest chapter in an ongoing body of work that investigates how meaning and life are continuously constructed then deconstructed before then being reconstructed again and again and again.

 AKA “THE REMIX”

Beginning with numbersletters, before then later moving through human faces. This series now turns inward to explore the cellular structure of the body itself.

Using samples of my own blood and working in collaboration with a local research centre in the Netherlands, I’ve transformed biological data into generative visual compositions. These images are not illustrations of cells, but abstractions built from them – microscopic fragments of the self, reimagined through code.

At its core, Cells explores the intersection between biological identity and digital representation. The key question observation is exploring:

how systems of life and systems of logic can mirror one another.

It’s a meditation on abstraction, not as escape, but as a way to look deeper: to dismantle the familiar in order to see it anew.
