The TeamWalk Challenge: Trivia, Strategy, and Forest Adventures
There’s something special about combining competition with a dash of trivia and a walk through the woods. This year’s MMC TeamWalk Challenge promised all of that and more. Set against the stunning backdrop of Center Parcs, our team of five was ready to take on the adventure-with the added twist of a theme: Famous TV Quizzes. We had brushed up on everything from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? to Mastermind, though we weren’t quite as prepared for the disappointment of our fancy dress order never arriving. But as they say, the show must go on.

Challenge Overview
What sets the TeamWalk Challenge apart from most races or hikes is its flexible format. There’s no fixed route or set distance. Instead, each team is in control of how they tackle the course. The goal? Collect as many points as possible while navigating through checkpoints scattered across the forest. It’s up to each team to decide how far they want to go and how much time they want to spend on the course.
For us, the goal was clear-finish in the top three. So, we started to strategise. With no defined path to follow, we had the freedom to craft our own plan, focusing on which checkpoints could score us the most points. It wasn’t about hiking the furthest or the fastest; it was about being smart with our time and energy. Or was it about having fun?
Crafting Our Strategy
With the freedom to choose our own route, we needed to think tactically. The forest sprawled out before us like an open map, each checkpoint offering the promise of points but also presenting a decision-was it worth the trek? We spread the map out over breakfast, highlighters in hand, marking the checkpoints that offered the biggest payoffs.
It was a balancing act: take the long hike to the far-off checkpoint that offered maximum points, or stick to the easier, close-by ones, stacking smaller scores quickly? We were confident that our mix of trivia knowledge and navigational skills would carry us through. if only i was better at Maths, then maybe a bit of f knowledge on Graph Theory might have made all the difference.
The added element of trivia made the challenge all the more fun. Every now and then, we’d stop to quiz ourselves, laughing over who could still remember random facts from old TV shows. It was playful, competitive, and perfectly in line with the event’s lighthearted spirit.
A Day of Forest Fun
As we set off into the woods, the beauty of the forest was immediately apparent. The towering trees, the soft crunch of leaves underfoot, and the fresh, crisp air gave the whole experience a rejuvenating quality. Despite the friendly competition, there was no rush-just us, the forest, and the occasional trivia stop.
There were moments when the strategy had to be rethought-whether it was deciding to push on to a further checkpoint or backtrack when we realised we’d gone the wrong way. One thing was certain: the lack of a predetermined path meant we had to stay flexible and adapt on the go. It felt less like a race and more like a giant puzzle, with the forest as our playground.
One of the best parts? We weren’t alone in our mission. Teams passed us from time to time, decked out in quirky costumes or debating trivia answers. The camaraderie in the forest was infectious. Everyone was on their own journey, but there was this collective spirit of fun that made the day memorable.
Reflection: Fun Meets Competition
By the end of the day, we were tired but exhilarated. The TeamWalk Challenge offered exactly what we’d hoped for: a mix of fun, competition, and adventure. The trivia added a playful twist, the freedom to choose our own route kept things interesting, and the beautiful forest setting made every step worth it.
What I loved most about this challenge was the balance. It wasn’t just about winning or racing; it was about working together as a team, enjoying the natural surroundings, and tackling the event in our own way. In the end, every team’s experience was unique, and that’s what made the day so special.
As we sat down for a well-deserved drink at the end of the day, we couldn’t help but smile. The top three might have been our goal, but the real win was the experience itself.
