Nathan Samuel is a London-born, Amsterdam-based artist working across sculpture, mixed media, installation, photography and text.
His practice explores memory, migration, belonging and place. Through collected materials, images, objects and personal stories, he considers how we carry the places we have lived, the people we have known, and the histories that shape us.
Nathan Samuel’s work often begins with an encounter: an archive, a journey, a conversation, a discarded object or a landscape. In the studio, these fragments are brought together to create work that is both personal and open to shared experience.
Across his projects, Nathan is interested in the spaces between arrival and departure, home and movement, private memory and public history. His work asks how we make meaning from what we keep, what we lose and what we choose to remember.
